| Our Process |
In selecting emerging fund managers, we evaluate prospective teams based on the viability of their investment strategy, the quality of their management structure and their commitment to long-term investing.
Our process entails:
Identifying candidates from a variety of channels, including private placement agents, alternative investors, third-party marketers, prime brokers, current managers of CZAM-sponsored funds and other industry participants. We will actively target funds in particularly attractive sectors as well as opportunistically pursue available "best of class" management teams.
Performing stringent due diligence with respect to investment style, strategy, experience, track record, and risk management procedures. We also seek personal and professional references to gain further insights into the fund manager's history and potential and confirm this information through private investigative reports.
Structuring the relationship around the sponsorship capital we provide. We typically require an ownership stake of 20-50%, the ability to have input in the management of the funds through a seat on the board of directors and the investment committee and approval rights for major business decisions.
Monitoring the investment through active participation on the board, regular discussions and frequent on-site visits to promote performance and growth. CZAM also tracks performance through quarterly reviews and annual audits.
